Residence Permit

A residence permit is a type of permit that gives a legal residence permit for a certain period, except for visas and exceptional cases within the borders of Turkey. The residence permit is divided into certain types according to the person, situation, and time. This distinction has led to the creation of different types of permits. It is divided into main headings such as short-term residence permit, family residence permit, student residence permit, long-term residence permit, humanitarian residence permit, and human trafficking residence permit.
For short-term or long-term residence permit applications, an appointment must be made with the Provincial Immigration Administration in the province where the foreigner resides. The appointment must be made before the visa or visa exemption periods expire. The application form and other documents required for the residence permit must be fully prepared at the appointed appointment time. All residence permit applications can only be made through the applicant or his/her lawyer.
If it is decided that the necessary conditions are met for those who request a short-term residence permit for touristic purposes, a residence permit can be issued for a maximum of two years. For those who request a residence permit for more than three months for commercial purposes, a residence permit can be issued for up to one year.
In order to be able to obtain a long-term residence permit, the conditions must be met for eight years of uninterrupted residence in Turkey, not receiving social assistance for at least the last three years of residence, having a sufficient and proper income source to provide for himself/herself and his/her family, having valid health insurance, and not posing a threat to public order or public security.
